Blackwell Golden Acorn, Bronze Bobcat and Outstanding Educator Awards
Blackwell Elementary PTSA annually recognizes outstanding volunteer and educational service by awarding the Bronze Bobcat, Golden Acorn and Outstanding Educator Awards.

All recipients promote the mission of the PTSA: To enhance the educational experience of children and their families by working in partnership with teachers, educational staff, and local community. The PTSA gives each child a legislative voice while providing safe, fun and educationally enriched activities, supported by its own fundraising. A committee of past recipients will make the final selection, and will present the awards at the End of the Year Assembly.  Please help us select deserving volunteers and educators from our community this year. There are three types of recognition awards:

The Golden Acorn Award is a special award presented to a volunteer in recognition of exemplary dedication and service to children and youth within our PTSA, school and community. A $70 contribution in the name of the recipient(s) is given by Blackwell PTSA to the WA State PTA Scholarship Program for grants to freshman students entering post-secondary education.

The Outstanding Educator Award was created to recognize individuals who have provided outstanding educational opportunities for children and youth that are beyond the normal expectations of their jobs, to make the learning environment fun, beneficial, and challenging.

The Bronze Bobcat Award is in recognition of outstanding volunteer service to Blackwell Elementary and its students.

Lost and Found

All items in the Lost and Found will be donated to charity at the end of the day Friday, May 25th. Please make sure you take a look before it disappears!

Running Club

Running Club is coming to an end. Ms. Hofmann and Mr. Brewer have been so happy with how the year has gone (even in the sudden downpour rain days). We wanted to take a quick moment to thank all of you for your support in helping your child attend the club and helping the club continue to happen.

The last day of Running Club will be Thursday May 31st.

We will have a special running club day with a fun course to run through and have special treats at the end.

We will have coolers of Gatorade and water and we will be passing out Otter Pops or a similar popsicle.

*If your child can not have an Otter Pop please let us know and we can work together on getting an alternative snack for them.

The last day will run in the same time as normal running clubs so plan to pick your child up at the normal time.

Once again thank you so much for your support! We have had a great time this year with the runners!

Parent Ed Opportunity

Please join us at Blackwell, Tuesday May 29th at 6:30pm to view the amazing documentary, Screenagers.  This event is hosted by the Sammamish Elementary School Counselors and paid for the LWSD/PTSA Council.

Screenagers is about the impact of the digital age on children and how to help families minimize harmful effects and find balance.

After seeing the film, people tell us that they feel more confident and better equipped to establish balance around screen time.

Parents of Fifth Graders: Welcome to Inglewood!

The Inglewood PTSA welcomes all of our incoming 6th grade families!  The PTSA is a bit different at the middle school level, simply because we don't have events such as carnivals, book fairs, or Bingo.  Middle School PTSA membership is still extremely important, and the PTSA is just as committed to students and families through classroom grants to enrich the learning experience, outreach programs, and regular communication about school and local opportunities.

Speaking of communication, we invite you to start receiving our weekly electronic newsletter, the Knightly News.  Visit our websitewww.inglewoodptsa.org and click "Sign up for the PTSA Newsletter."  The Knightly News and website are where you will find all of our latest updates.

Inglewood will be hosting its annual IMS Showcase on Tuesday, June 5th from 5:00-8:00 p.m.  This event includes a 5K run/walk (participation is optional), food trucks, carnival games, music performances by the IMS band and orchestra, and rocket launches by the 7th grade science classes.  More information will be included in the Knightly News and IMS PTSA website in May, as well as sent through your school communication links.

We look forward to meeting all of you at the IMS Showcase or August Prep Days.  If you have any questions, please contact IMS PTSA Co-Presidents Leta Hamilton and Michele Simmons. (president@inglewoodptsa.org
